• Play is a dramatic work written and
performed by the actors on the stage,

• Drama is the act of composing a serious play.

as an art, profession, or way of life. (Encarta

TYPES OF DRAMA (GREEK)
• Tragedy – serious tone and death of the
leading character
• Comedy – light tone, laughter, happy ending
CHARACTERISTICS OF DRAMA
• Dialogues – words spoken by the characters
• Stage directions – tells when to enter or leave
• Lines – tells how to speak the dialogue
• Settings – describes the costume and physical
surroundings
