 He enforced the king’s royal decrees and other laws from Spain.
 He was the commander-in-chief of the colonial armed forces.
 He appointed and remove colonial officials.
 He served as president (chief justice) of the Royal Audiencia (Supreme Court)
 He served as vice-royal patron.
 He exercised the powers of a monarch.
 He has the right for veto (cumplase)
