CHAPTER :- SOUND

“NOISE IN

FACTORIES”
 Some of the industries in which workers are
expressed to noise pollution (noise over-limit)
because of the presence of noisy machines.
 The presence of mills (rice mills, flour mills, etc.)
and huge suction and blower machines made
many noise and naturally, it seems that this noise
affects the workers’ hearing.
 From these two points we came to know the
difficulty of workers working in factories.
 They use different types of machines that
produces horrible sound.
 This is the same problem in every factory.
 Protecting employees from excessive noise in the
workplace is a huge priority for health and safety
professionals, who are tasked with containing or
dampening the noise of loud machinery.
o If average daily noise is 80 dB or over, employers
must assess the risk and provide workers with
training on hearing protection
o If the average daily noise exposure is 85 decibels
or over, hearing protection must be provided
o There is also an exposure limit value of 87
decibels, taking into account any reduction in
exposure attributed to hearing protection

“NOISE DUE TO
TRANSPORTATION”
It is a noise produced while transportation. It
produces a bad efect on our ears.
Examples of noise due to transportation are :-
1. Road traffic noise.
2. Railway train noise.
3. Aircraft noise.
4. Under water noise
pollution
etc……………………
Road traffic noise and related noise is a major
source of annoyance and impairment to health in
urban areas.
 Many areas exposed to road traffic noise are also
exposed to rail and air traffic noise.
 Many cars, buses, trucks, etc. or other vehicles
produce sound which causes to death of living
beings .
 Various parts of a automobile (cars, vans, or 4
wheeled vehicles ) produce noise, (engine, horn, etc.) .
 A bus, truck, or more or less than 4 wheeled vehicle
will also have parts which produce sound.
Railway train noise is vehicle
  noise
created by trains. Noises may be heard
inside the train and outside . This causes
death of many people.
 Various parts of a train produce noise, and
different kinds of train wheels produce
different amounts of noise. Noise barriers can
attenuate these noises, the locomotive engine
noise.
 The air displacement of a train in a tunnel can
create noise from turbulence.
 Aircraft noise

 Aircraft engines are the major source of noise and can exceed

140 decibels (dB) during takeoff.
 While airborne, the main sources of noise are the engines
and the high speed turbulence over the fuselage.
 There are health consequences of elevated sound
levels. ... Airport noise has been linked to high blood pressure.
 While take off and landing there will be a sensation in our
ears and a horrible sound is produced inside the air craft and
outside the aircraft.
 Its very dangerous for our ear buds .

 Underwater noise is a noise produced by ships,
submarines, motorboats, etc.
 Ocean noise refers to sounds made by human activities
that can interfere with or obscure the ability of marine
animals to hear natural sounds in the ocean.
 Many marine organisms rely on their ability to hear for
their survival.
 Underwater animals can hear only the sound less than
20Hz .
 If it becomes more than it they may die.
