DEFINITION

a method to explore and discuss in-depth nursing problems

that occur in patients. Carried out by primary or associate
nurses, counselors, heads of rooms, and the entire nursing
team and other health workers such as physiotherapist,
laboratorist, radiologists, nutritionist, by involving patients
directly as the focus of activities.
Importance of nursing round

– It can cause the following condition:

– Reduction in patient falls
– Decrease call light use
– Enhance nurse satisfaction
– Increase patient satisfaction
– Improve the knowledge and professionalism of nursing staff
FREQUENCY
• Nursing rounds can be carried out daily, --> in order to
obtain information during the handover led by the team
leader,
• Weekly  rounds carried out by selecting patients which
aim to increase the achievement of nursing care without
specific cases and led by the head of the room,
• once a month  the round which led by the head of the
nursing section.
PATIENT CRITERIA
• There are two criteria for
patients who can be carried
out by the nursing round, 1)
having nursing problems that
have not been resolved even
though nursing actions have
been taken and 2) patients
with new or rare cases
(Nursalam 2011).
TARGETS
The targets of the nursing
round are patients, nurses,
facilities, nursing
documentation and the
condition of the ward,
including cleanliness and
tidiness.
