HISTORY OF
SCHOOL
• Public schools became free after 1852, and by 1918 most states provided it
free
• Equal schooling for all American children became available during the 20 th

century.
• 1954, Brown v. Board of Education made public schools available for all races.
• In the video “Separate and Unequal,” a new state is trying to be declared to
separate whites and blacks, since people of color are causing violence and not
trying in school but failed to succeed.
• Education can create better technology to enhance society.
• Major participants are students and teachers; Students attend to learn and be
a part of society, teachers are to teach the youth to benefit society.
PUBLIC SCHOOL
INTERFERENCES
• The environment in certain schools can impact negatively both the students and
teachers.
• If the funding for schools is low, less education can be taught, meaning less
resources for teachers.
• Poor building qualities can affect learning and change teachers' attitudes.
• A good climate in a school can improve students' motivation
• Ex: A room with peaceful and quiet room will better a student than a loud and
chaotic room.

NEXT GENERATION
LEARNING
• Due to the coronavirus pandemic, teaching has changed. Instead of face-to-
face teaching, it is now online.
• Education can be explored more and can motivate more people since they
can learn with their own pace, from online class.
• Future education can be online since it provides:
• Flexibility (Better schedule and pace)
• Wide selection (More options in subjects and skills)
• Accessible (Can be connected from all around the world
PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
• Education provides knowledge to students, which helps create discussions in
public places or with friends.(ex: politics)
• Education provides ethics; to be successful a person must know what defeat
is. They use it to improve themselves, to be fair in the future.
• Confidence is also achieved from education. Confidence is important, since it
provides communication with people and to learn new ideas. Collaboration
creates confidence within individuals, so they aren’t shy when talking to new
people.
• Education teaches how to behave, for example if you are in class you behave
different than you are in a party. (Part of the norms, that is taught)
• Discipline is learned from education. If you aren’t disciplined, then you aren’t
accepted in society. Discipline shows what a good person is.
SOCIAL CONTROL
• Schools are used to teach students socialization. By behaving in society in
sustainable ways.
• Social control is applied to both formal and informal sanctions, to
understand norms and values.
• Students are taught sustainable behaviors in a society to work.
• Behaviors of students have changed overtime, from lower test scores to
better ones as more students are motivated.
• Schools uses parents to keep their kids on track.
• Schools also provide requirements for future careers and motivate them to
work for their future.
PREPARATION FOR LIFE
• Education helps build mental, emotional, social, and strategic resources in
students.
• Education gets students ready for challenges.
• Education teaches social norms, and responsibilities to be appreciated as a
human in society.
• Education also provides students to work with others and have confidence.
• Education has been stable in preparing students for basic norms, and to
function properly in a society. Schools continue to serve food and provide as
much as help a student needs.
FUNCTIONALIST AND CONFLICT
PESPECTIVE
• Functionalists state education has a huge impact on society in a positive
way and teaches the norms.
• Functionalists focus on students being ready to work and teach in the
future, from life skills they’ve learned and to use it to compete.
• Two types of Functions: Manifest and Latent.
• Conflict theorist think that society is the ideas of ruling class.
• Conflict theorists also say that tests are knowledge based.
• Conflict theorists also say public schools do not decrease inequality.
• Both perspectives exercise sorting.
MY OWN EDUCATION
SYSTEM
• Provide online access and in-class, so more people have access which can
motivate those who don’t feel like attending in school can have a chance.
• Provide better resources; by more funding from the government so teachers
can use the best of their abilities.
• Putting less pressure on students, by helping them accomplish with their pace.
(To have more success rate)
• Provide more resources for students to be prepared for real life: For example
financial development.
• I believe my way would benefit society, since people want real life help and
more flexibility. Government should step in by funding with resources and
higher salary for teachers, so teachers aren’t there just for the job but for
engagement.
