Infections

An infection is the invasion of an organism's


body tissues by disease-causing agents, their
multiplication, and the reaction of host
tissues to the infectious agents and the toxins
they produce.
Example of Infections
Vaginal Infection- A vaginal infection
(vaginitis) causes symptoms of vaginal
odor, discharge, itching, or irritation
due to inflammation of the vagina.
If untreated may cause:
 Spread in reproductive tract,
inflammatory, sterility, abnormal
menses and hormonal imbalance
Cause mainly by:
 Escherichia Coli- Spread through digestive
tract, comes from eating contaminated food.
 Sexually transmitted microorganism such as:
syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes virus.
 Yeast or (fungi)
In males
 STD involved Inflammatory conditions are:
o Protatitis
o Urethritis
o Epididymitis
 Orchiditis- inflammation of the testes
and can cause sterility. It follows
mumps in an adult male.
