Main passive:
Is the passive of all 12 tenses, imperative and
causative verbs.

e.g. He plays cricket. (active).


Cricket is played by him. (passive).
e.g. I don’t have a mechanic fix my car.(active).
I don’t have my car fixed by a mechanic. (passive).
2. Conditional passive:
Is the passive of all modal auxiliary verbs:

e.g. He can speak English. (active).

English can be spoken by him. (passive).


3. Stative passive:
Is a passive which doesn’t have active form.

e.g. The door is broken.

The door is locked.

My wallet was stolen last night.


4. Present passive infinitive:
Structure:
Subject + infinitive verb+ to be +3rd verb+ by phrase.

e.g. He wants to be taught by his teacher.

I wish to be helped by my brother.


5. Present Passive Gerund:
Structure:
Subject+ gerund verb + being+ 3rd verb+ by phrase.

e.g. He appreciates being invited by his friend.


6. Past passive infinitive:

Structure:

Subject + infinitive verb+ to have+been+3rd verb


+ by phrase.

e.g. She wants to have been taught by her


brother.
7. Past passive Gerund:
Structure:
Subject+ Gerund verb + having + been +
3rd verb + by phrase.
e.g. he appreciates having been invited by
his friend. Or He appreciated having been
invited by his friend.
