For example, the Center shows the similarities
between the Polynesian and Hawaiian villages with
life-size models. In addition, the Center dramatizes
Hawaiian legends of ancestors journeying across
oceans.

Group Activity (½ Crosswise)

Direction: Each group will be provided with a


paragraph (written in cartolina) to identify the topic
sentence. Underline the topic sentence and answer
the following questions:

1. How do you know that particular sentence is the


topic sentence of the paragraph?

2. Why do we need to know the main idea of a


paragraph? What trait can we develop from it?

Answer:
We will know that particular topic sentence of the
paragraph by looking at the supporting details that the
paragraph contains. When it talks about the certain
topic that connects to the main idea of the paragraph,
you will be able to determine the topic sentence
through that method.

paragraph? What trait can we develop from it?

Answer:
We need to know the main idea of the paragraph
so that we can be aware of what the paragraph is all
about. Thus, it can also develop the trait of being
observant and keen in looking at details.

each of the paragraph. Choose
the letter that corresponds to
your answer.
ASSIGNMENT
In one half (½) crosswise, write a
paragraph about any topic or interest
of your choice. Then, underline the
topic sentence and the clinching
sentence. Be sure to observe one of
the properties of a well-written text
which is organization in writing.
