Food in Switzerland
★ Swiss cuisine combines influences from the German, French and North Italian cuisine.

★ Some favorite dishes throughout Switzerland include:

★ Cheese fondue: melted cheese and bread cubes

★ Raclette: melted cheese with jack potatoes, cocktail gherkin, and onions

★ Älplermagronen: gratin with potatoes, macaroni, cheese, cream and onions


★ Swiss chocolate: Switzerland eats the most chocolate out of all countries.

Kindergarten In Switzerland

★ In kindergarten children are taught about basic manners.

★ They are taught other languages and the Swiss culture.

★ The main goal of kindergarten is to teach children social skills and basic mannerisms through play-

based learning.

★ It is very hands on, teaching the students through music, games, art and crafts.

★ Once the children attend kindergarten, they attend primary school.


Secondary Education In Switzerland
★ Secondary education is divided into two stages, lower and upper.

★ Lower second education

○ Begins at age 11 or 12 and lasts for 3 or 4 years.

○ Learn their native language, a second language and english.

○ Math, natural science, history, music, and art are some main subjects focused on.

○ Students are graded on a number system, six being the highest and one being the lowest.

○ At the end of the year, they take a test based on what they have learn that determines in they

continue on to the next year or repeat the previous one.


Secondary Education In Switzerland cont
★ Upper secondary education

○ After lower education, students choose what kind of career they wish to pursue and choose

either a vocational, baccalaureate, or specialized school to attend.

★ University

○ There are only 12 universities in Switzerland.
