EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

“Emotional intelligence is the ability to engage in

productive relationships by being better able to
manage one’s emotional needs while meeting others’
needs”
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

“Emotional intelligence is from two root words

“Emotions” and “Intelligence”
MANAGING EMOTIONS

According to Gill Hasson, Managing Emotions involves:

• Knowing when to respond immediately, when to stop and think.
• Knowing when to restraint your emotions; when to engage or detach from an
emotion.
• Knowing how to manage other people's emotions.
• Knowing how to draw on emotions to develop empathy and rapport with others.
• Managing your emotions does not mean controlling and suppressing your
emotions - It simply means being flexible with your thinking, responses and
behaviors. It requires that you stay open to feelings (pleasant or unpleasant).
3 KINDS OF INTELLIGENCE

3 foundational types of intelligence:

 Abstract intelligence: this the ability to understand and

manipulate with verbal, numerical and mathematic symbols.

 Concrete intelligence: the ability to understand and manipulate

objects.

 Social intelligence: the ability to understand and relate with

yourself and with people.
SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE

• Social Intelligence include: Interpersonal and

Intrapersonal intelligences:

▪ Interpersonal intelligence: It is other awareness and

relationship management: it is the ability to understand the
thoughts and feelings of other people: what motivates them, how
they work, and how to work cooperatively with them.

▪ Intrapersonal intelligence: it is self-awareness with self-

management: it is the ability to identify and understand your own
thoughts and feelings.
