Barriers to
Effective Communication
1 -TALKING TOO MUCH

When you talk, you’re not

listening, and you need to listen
to the people you’re attempting
to persuade.
. TRYING TOO HARD, SEEMING DESPERATE
2

When you try too hard to persuade someone, you may seem desperate, and
desperation smells like manipulation and turns people off before you can utter your
next desperate word.
3
- LACK OF ENTHUSIASM

If you don’t believe in your position, product, service, or

whatever you’re trying to sell, they won’t believe in it either
4 Status

Communication may suffer from selective communication. The top

of a company's hierarchy may not share certain information to
subordinates for fear of being judged as incompetent and they want
to reinforce status differences.

Subordinates tend to share only information that would please their

superiors and avoid sharing their mistakes and asking for further
clarification on work
5 Conflicts in the Workplace

Conflict Can Happen For A Variety Of Reasons And When It Does, It Becomes A
Barrier To Effective Communication. The Nature Of The Conflict Is Not
Necessarily Important, What Is Important Is Working To Resolve The Conflict.
When Conflict Is Not Eradicated, It Grows And Then People Begin To Take Sides,
Which Further Impedes Effective Communication

overcome at daily basis so the work isn’t affected and employee
cooperation can be enhanced.
