Spain's History of Day Of the Dead

Ofrendas: an essential part of the Day of the Dead celebrations. The word ofrenda means offering in
Espanol. They are put onto altares, or altars, but they are NOT for worship.
Why is the Day of the Dead important?
It is a serious moment of recollection, and memorial to the dead. When they celebrate this, it was usually
done more privately than in other countries.
Traditions and costumes in spain.
Some costumes worn in spain are Mantillas, a long lace or silk veil that women wear over their heads and
shoulders. Peineta, a tortoise-shell comb used to hold the mantilla. Traje corto, short jackets with high
waistbands worn with a white shirt usually by males. The best known traditions, among Spain's folkloristic
traditions, are definitely Flamenco and bullfights.

Of or when you visit spain you will be greeted with the stories behind every work of art. Some beautiful
masterpieces created by Velázquez, Picasso, Dalí and Gaudí are located there.
Honduras
Honduras’ history of Day of the Dead

In honduras they mostly just visit the graves of their loved ones, they also take them flowers. Some people make a prayer about their Honduras flag ^
family member, or members, that already passed.

Why is Day of the Dead important to them?

In most of Honduras, the majority of Day of the Dead is visiting the cemeteries to decorate, paint, and pray by the graves of deceased
family members. Many people leave flowers or crowns, and invite mariachis to sing their passed loved ones favorite songs, this is
important so they can celebrate their loved ones and be able to connect with them and give gifts for them to have while their dead.

Traditions and culture in Honduras

The traditional clothing that is worn in Honduras is used mostly in festivals and special celebrations. The women wear long dresses that
are handmade with multiple colors. The men usually wear all white clothing, a white button shirt, and white pants. To add some color they
also wear a red scarf and a sombrero.

Foods in Honduras

One good food to try in honduras is the plato típico which is a heaping, carb overload of beef, plantains, beans, marinated cabbage, fresh
cream, and tortillas.

Honduras is best known for the country's primitivist painters, such as José Antonio Velásquez and Pablo Zelaya Sierra. The
Lencas are also known, throughout Central America, for their pottery and ceramics.

The Day of the Dead originated in Aztec traditions honoring the dead. The Aztec Empire influenced present-day
Mexico and Central America, to do the same and honor the dead as they did.

Day of the Dead is important in Mexico because they demonstrate love and respect for deceased family

There are many fifferent foods in different parts of Mexico, but these are some that are common everywhere.
These foods include of tortillas, and other food made from corn are common everywhere, also pepper, tomatoes
and beans.

Guatemala’s history of Day of the Dead

In Guatemala, Day of the Dead is a day when they remember their dead, loved ones, and celebrate that they were able to
meet them when they were alive on earth, or to be part of their family while they are passed.

Why is Day of the Dead important?

On the Day of the Dead, graves are usually decorated with both, seasonal flowers, and wreaths made of silk flowers
coated with wax. They do this to respect their deceased family members and to celebrate them.

Similar to Spain, Guatemalan people celebrate Christmas, Advent, Three Kings, and Easter as the most important holidays
of the year. Also, each village and town honors their respective patron saints annually.

Guatemalan foods

Guatemala has very good foods, but some commonly known ones are Chiles rellenos, Fiambre, Elote loco, Hilachas,
Rellenitos, and Tostadas.

One type of art they do in Guatemala is painted murals and carved stelae that was originated by the mayans and passed
on.
Cuba

Chile
1. History of day of the dead. In Chile, many major holidays are observed , especially those connected with Catholicism. The celebration
of other secular holidays is also increasing in Santiago, considering the influx of foreigners residing in Santiago and foreign cultures being
viewed in movies, online, and in other media. The vacations taken in summer and winter are some of the most common holidays in the world,
and Chile is no exception.

2. How do they observe Day of the dead? Day of the Dead is observed on the first of November. It is a national holiday for
workers. Families visit their loved ones' graves and memorial sites, decorate them with flowers, and often spend the afternoon there with
refreshments like soda, and sandwiches.

3. Why Day of the dead is important? The Day of the Dead was a day dedicated to remember the families and relatives who died.
Marigolds and sugar skulls line roads and honors installed on November 1 and 2 in the memorial. For individuals all over the world, this day is
an important day of remembrance and family events.

4. Traditions and costumes People typically paint their face, with flowers and tradition clothing like a lace covering the back of you
head and a dress for women. Also, they bring marigold with them.

Costa Rica
1.History of day of the dead. On November 2nd every year, Costa Rica, like most other Latin American countries,
honors the dead. There are many names for this day, including Día de Todos Santos (All Saints Day), Día de Todos Almas
(All Souls Day) and the more popular Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

2. How do they observe Day of the dead?--Día De Los Difuntos (Day of the Dead). Costa Ricans remember the deceased by
visiting the cemeteries where their loved ones rest and decorating their grave sites with flowers and candles.

3. Why Day of the dead is important?--The point is to show love and respect for deceased family members.

4. Traditions and costumes --Usually, men wear a red handkerchief wrapped around their necks with a knot in the
front. In lieu of light colored trousers, they also wear blue jeans. Whereas in Limon, a white cotton blouse with
colorful trim and a patterned skirt is the standard dress for women. They wear African turbans as well.

Venezuela
1.History of day of the dead. -The Day of All Souls is a day for giving alms and prayers for the dead. The goal is
for those in purgatory to support the living.

2. How do they observe Day of the dead?-On November 2, many western churches annually celebrate All Souls'
Day and many eastern churches.

3. Why Day of the dead is important?-This day is the ideal day for a family to gather in an environment of joy
and excitement to remember those who have passed away. They normally put offerings: traditional dishes,
colorful flowers and all sorts of sweets because the deceased enter the world of the living, according to the
belief.

4. Traditions and costumes- They hold parades and parties, sing and dance, and make offerings to lost loved
ones.
