past four decades, poverty remains a great challenge for us Filipinos. The estimated 16.6 percent
of the total population is comprised of Filipinos whose capita income is not sufficient enough to
meet their basic needs. Primary roots of poverty are high inflation during the crisis period, high
levels of population growth, low to moderate economic growth, and weakness in employment
generation and the quality of jobs generated. Due to these reasons, we intend to create micro
solutions to produce macro effects. SOLVE?

How does each idea help
achieve the SDG?
Each idea has a unique way in order to help SDG 1: No Poverty in the Philippines. The government also took several measures
to eradicate poverty in our country. Some of them are – creating employment opportunities, controlling the population, etc. In
the Philippines, about 60% of the population is still dependent on agriculture for its livelihood. The government has taken
certain measures to promote agriculture in the country. They constructed certain dams & canals in our country to provide easy
access to water for irrigation. The government has also taken steps for the cheap availability of seeds & farming equipment to
promote agriculture. The government is also promoting farming of cash crops like cotton, instead of food crops. In cities, the
government is promoting industrialization to create more jobs. The government has also opened ‘Ration shops’. Other measures
include providing free & compulsory education for children up to 14 years of age, scholarship to deserving students from a
poor background, providing subsidized houses to poor people, etc. Poverty is a social evil, we can also contribute to control it.
For example- we can simply donate old clothes to poor people, we can also sponsor the education of a poor child, or we can
utilize our free time by teaching poor students. Remember before wasting food, somebody is still sleeping hungry. Aside from
the government, we, as students are also making our best possible ways in order to help these people who are unprivileged. And
Since nowadays most people who happen to experience poverty are unemployed or are uneducated we can only offer them a
greater future by acknowledging their small/part-time services to enable themselves to sustain their financial and physical
needs. Remember, even small contributions helps! By donating, volunteering, and using your skills, you can help contribute to
the SDGs to make them a reality.

What challenges your
group might face?
One of the main challenges of extreme Poverty is the lack
of income and resources to ensure a sustainable livelihood.
Without these resources, It would further then result in hunger and
malnutrition Second is the limited access to education and other
basic services. Without education, it has been difficult to go
beyond other job and work standards making other people
unemployed. Third, is social discrimination and exclusion as well
as the lack of participation in decision-making, wherein this leads
to unemployment. The Economic growth of our country must be
inclusive to provide sustainable jobs and promote equality to all
people in order for them to raise themselves from poverty.
