The important properties of LCI
1. Use in very large horsepower ratings(>1000hp)
overall drive efficiencies exceeding 95%
2. It is much simpler & has lower losses. Eliminating the self-
controlled switches is advantage at high voltage & current
ratings.
3. No inrush current at start-up, Synchronous motor can be
line started on induction motor principle. Able to provides
additional reliability.
4. The LCI drives have an inherent capability to provide
regenerative braking
