• Non resident accounts can be generally be divided in following four

groups:
• Non-resident Pakistani nationals permanently residing abroad.
• Non-resident Pakistani nationals who are abroad for short visit.
• Non-resident foreign nationals residing abroad.
• A non resident foreign national who is an ordinary resident in Pakistan
, but who has gone abroad for a short visit.
• Authorized Dealers must follow their standard operating procedures
for opening and maintaining of such accounts and ensure compliance
of all applicable AML/CFT regulations/guidelines
• Authorized Dealers may open and maintain the following two
categories of non-resident rupee accounts of the individuals.
• Non-resident Rupee Account-Repatriable (NRAR).
• Non-resident Rupee Account-Non-repatriable (NRAN).
• These accounts may be opened by the Authorized Dealers without
prior approval of the State Bank.
• Accounts of united Nation and its organizations are free from financial
control, and are treated as resident account.
• There is no bar to maintaining joint accounts of residents and non
residents operated on a singular or joint basis. In both cases the
account shall be treated as non resident.
• Form A-7 is required to be completed in respect of all debit and credit
transactions.
• Form A-7 is required in support of transactions in such accounts, and
it should be sent to SBP along with Schedule “K” .
