LOCAL HISTORY

WHAT IS LOCAL HISTORY?


It is the key to understanding the different cultures and perspectives of
small communities. It presents the past events and experiences of single
communities that live equally unique among the others.

NOTE: National history can be completely read and realized when there
are collective recordings of local history, which reflects the vivid
illustrations of the general history

 Municipality
 Countryside
 Residential area
 Metropolis neighborhood
 Other local settings.
GOALS
 To allow students to directly engaged in doing historical
investigation and writing in their communities.
 To make a realization that historical writing is not for
articulated person in national history only
 In general, to have proper understanding of the events in the
localities and its contribution to general history.
THE MATERIALITY OF LOCAL HISTORY
 Local history matters because it gives us new perspective toward
crucial events that took place in our communities.
 Local history can give us detailed stories of the events that may be
useful in determining the patterns of history in general or national
setting.
 It teaches us the most informative account of the communities.
