Matter

◦Matter is made of tiny particles

3 States of Matter

◦Solid
◦Liquid
◦gas
Solid
Something is usually
described as a solid if it can
hold its own shape and is
hard to compress (squash).
Types of Solid
1.Hard solid
2.Soft solid
3.Rough solid
4.Smooth solid
5.Tiny particles
Hard solid
◦It does not change shape when you
squeeze it.
Soft solid
◦It is nice to squeeze. When you squeeze it, it
will come back to its shape.
Rough Solid
◦When you touch it really hard, it may
hurt you because of its rough texture.
Smooth Solid

◦It feels fine to touch

Tiny Particles
◦Some solids materials are broken into tiny
parts. They can be poured from one container
to another. It is also called powder.
Liquid
◦ Liquid is material that looks like
water. It can be poured from one
container to another container. The
shape will always change to follow
its container.
Types of liquid;
◦Thick liquid; hardly poured at all, it flows
slowly
◦Thin liquid; it flows quicker when it’s poured
Gas
◦Gas has no particular
shape. Gas floats and
spreads out to fill its
container. We usually can
not see or feel gas.
