Present Condition of Air

Pollution in Dhaka
What is Air Pollution?
• Air pollution can be stated as any atmospheric condition
in which substances (natural or man made chemical
compounds capable of being air borne), are present at
concentrations high enough above their normal ambient
level to produce a measurable effect on man, animal,
vegetation or materials.
According to the most recent World Health
Organizations (W.H.O.) data, Bangladesh
ranks 169th out of 178 countries at the
environment performance index for air
quality, so there is a good reason to worry
about the air quality of Dhaka city.
Major Air Pollutants of Dhaka
 Carbon Monoxide (CO);
 Sulphur dioxide (SO2);
 Nitrogen oxide(NOx);
 Ozone(O3);
 Hydrocarbons (HC);
 Particulate Matters (PM).

What is A.Q.I. ?
• An air quality index (AQI) is a number used
by government agencies to communicate to the public
how polluted the air currently is .
What is PM ?
• Particulate matter is the sum of all solid and liquid particles
suspended in air many of which are hazardous.
• Complex mixture including both organic and inorganic particles,
• Such as; dust, pollen, soot, smoke, and liquid droplets.

victim of air pollution/struggling for life
If we start,
• Reforestation
• Recycle plastics, papers and
metals ;
• Carpooling system;
• Maintain traffic laws;
• Reuse paper bags;
• house plants;
• Using hybrid cars and Increasing traffic speed.
Then, our Dhaka will be green again, like a
green city .
Finally,
Air pollution impacts the public health
in many ways, if we cannot restore the
ecological balance now,
it might be too late tomorrow..
