What is a Goal?

 It’s an aim… a purpose.. an objective…

 It’s more than a dream… It’s a dream being acted

upon…
Why Goals?
 It gives us focus.
 It helps us in accomplishing more – do more, have
more and be more…
 It helps us in harnessing our power.
 It helps us in increasing our confidence, energy and
enthusiasm.
 It helps us to be in charge.
 It helps us transcend our current realities.
 It provides automatic instrumentation, which keeps
us on course.
 It helps us to live longer.
Some quotes on goals…
“Give me a stock clerk with a goal and I will give you a
man who will make history. Give me a man without a
goal, and I will give you a stock clerk”
  - J C Penney

“The important thing is not where you were or where you
are but where you want to get”
- Dave Mahoney

“The difference between working with a goal and working
with no goal is results”
- Nancy Dornan
What is stopping us?
 Lack of understanding of the effectiveness of goal-
setting principles.
 Lack of knowledge on how to set goals and achieve
them.
 Fear of what others might say if I fail to achieve my
goals.
 Unwilling to change/move from our current comfort
zones.
 Our past conditioning, scripting, habits.
 Poor self-image (I don’t deserve better things in life)
 Truly and totally contented with the way I am (very
rarely)
Can goals be negative?
 If it is unrealistically big.
 If it is based on illusion.
 If it is outside your area of interests set primarily to
please others.
 If it’s achievement is dependent on luck factor.
 If failure to achieve goals affects our integrity and
courage.
 If it is achieved at the expense of more important
things in our lives.
How to set principle-based
goals?

 All things are created twice

 Mental or First creation
 Physical or second creation

 A principle-based goal is
a right thing,
for the right reason,
the right way.
