sequence of lines of electronic text.
• "Text file" refers to a type of container, while plain texts refers to
a type of content.
DOCUMENT FILES
• A document file format is a text or binary text format for storing
documents on a storage media, especially for use by computers. There
currently exist a multitude of incompatible document file formats
• .doc forMicrosoft  — Structural binary format developed by Microsoft
(specifications available since 2008 under the( Open Specification
Promise)
PRESENTATION FILES
• PPT is a file extension for a presentation file format used by Microsoft
PowerPoint, the popular presentation software  commonly used for
office and educational slide shows. All text images, sound and video
used in the presentation are contained in the PPT file. PPT files can be
viewed by PowerPoint, PowerPoint Viewer or the Open Office
software suite

WEBPAGES
• A web page (or webpage) is a specific collection of information
provided by a website and displayed to a user  in a web browser . A
website typically consists of many web pages linked  together in a
coherent fashion. The name "web page" is a metaphor of paper page
 bound together into a book.
ARCHIVES AND COMPRESSED FILES
• Zip files (.zip and .zipx) have been referred to as compressed folders,
packages, containers, and archives. Zip files are the most common
type of archive files that also compress data.
IMAGE FILES
• Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing
digital image . An image file format may store data in an uncompressed
format, a compressed format (which may be lossless or lossy), or a
vector format.
TYPES:
1. JPEG (or JPG) - Joint Photographic Experts Group
• JPEGs might be the most common file type you run across on the web,
and more than likely the kind of image that is in your company's MS Word
version of its letterhead. JPEGs are known for their "lossy" compression,
meaning that the quality of the image decreases as the file size decreases
IMAGE FILES
2. PNG - Portable Network Graphics
• PNGs are amazing for interactive documents such as web pages but are not
suitable for print. While PNGs are "lossless," meaning you can edit them and
not lose quality, they are still low resolution.
3. GIF - Graphics Interchange Format
• GIFs are most common in their animated form, which are all the rage on
Tumblr pages and in banner ads. It seems like every day we see pop culture
GIF references from Giphy in the comments of social media posts. In their
more basic form, GIFs are formed from up to 256 colors in the RGB
colorspace. Due to the limited number of colors, the file size is drastically
reduced.

animation or help in the creations and presentation of animation to the

VIDEO FILES
• A video file format is a type of file format for storing digital video data on a
computers system. Video is almost always stored using lossy compression to
reduce the file size.
WEBM
• Like the .WEBP image file, .WEBM was created by Google as an efficient
means of disseminating media to a large audience.
.MPG, .MP2, .MPEG, .MPE, .MPV
• .MPG, .MP2, .MPEG, .MPE, .MPV files can play audio/video media, or
simply audio. They are low in file size but also relatively low in quality. They
also have lossy compression, meaning their quality will degrade after being
edited numerous times
.MP4, .M4P, .M4V
• .MP4, .M4P, .M4V are similar to .MPG files in that they can contain
audio andvideo, or can simply be solely audio files.
.AVI
• .AVI files are one of the oldest and most compatible video file formats.
Many different codecs can be used with an .AVI file, which means that
this format has more flexibility in choosing a balance between quality
and size
AUDIO FILES
• An audio file format is a file format for storing digital audio data on a
conputer system. The bit layout of the audio data (excluding metadata)
is called the audio coding format and can be uncompressed, or
compressed to reduce the file size, often using lossy compression.
MP3
• The MP3 audio file is an MPEG audio layer 3 file format. The key
feature of MP3 files is the compression that saves valuable space
while maintaining near-flawless quality of the original source of
sound. This compression makes the MP3 very popular for all mobile
audio-playing devices, particularly the Apple iPod.
FLAC
• The FLAC audio file is Free Lossless Audio Codec. It is an audio file
compressed into a smaller size of the original file. It’s a sophisticated
file type that is lesser-used among audio formats.
