OBJECTIVES

 To know and study about the selection process.


 To know the induction and orientation techniques.
 To check the problem regarding its current process.
 To conduct a detailed study for practical knowledge.
 To become aware of OPTCL’s policies and procedures.
SCOPE
 The purpose of the study in this project is confined to the Head
Quarters of OPTCL located at Bhubaneswar. The recruitment
and selection process of OPTCL is thoroughly studied in this
project and the data regarding this topic was collected from the
staff at the head office of OPTCL.
 The report deals with the Recruitment &Selection process in
terms of theoretical point of view & the practical use.
 The study allows learning about the Recruitment &Selection
issues, importance, modern techniques & methods used to make
it more efficient.
 This research provides me with an opportunity to explore in the
facts of Human Resources. Research was carried out at OPTCL
to find out the “Recruitment & Selection process”.
LIMITATION

 A subject like recruitment & selection in OPTCL is very broad. So


the research could not make an intensive study of the said subject
within 45days.
 It was not possible to collect the relevant data within a short span of
time.
 To get information, it is not possible to develop relationship with the
trainee and the training officers, as because training is not conducting
now.
 Besides these training officers always busy in their work as a result
of which they could not help the researcher to a great extent.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
 i. Research Method:-
 The research study was divided in to the following point’s i.e.
 Classroom Training
 Questionnaire Distribution and Collection
 The study for research work consisted of class room training for a period of one week, interaction with the staff
as a random sample for primary data collection and the supporting secondary data were collected from
company website and official documents. The Questionnaire was prepared with the help of external guide of
the company pertaining to the chosen topic having various issues discussed in the classroom training.

ii. Field Work Details:-


 The field of study was undertaken in the office premise of the HRD department in the OPTCL headquarter
office. The target respondents were the executives of different functional areas of the HRD department of
OPTCL. The target respondents were consisting of both male and female executive employees of HRD
department of different age group, qualification, cadre and designation.
iii. Sample and Instrument :-
 The research was done by using the Random Sampling method having a sample size of 14.
 The sample consists of employees from different backgrounds, different designation, cadres and
qualifications. Therefore the opinions collected were different from each other which gave a variance for
the analysis.
 
iv. Data Collection : -
 The data were collected from two sources namely: - Primary Source & Secondary Source.
Primary Source:-
 The employees of OPTCL were given a questionnaire consisting some number of questions related to
Recruitment and Selection in order to know the response of the employees. After a few days the response
sheets were collected and the opinions were analyzed.
 In the primary sources the data are collected by direct interview of the senior executives of OPTCL by
distributing the Questionnaire.
 The primary data collection for this purpose is supported to be done by judgment sampling and
conversation sampling.
 Questionnaire has been formatted with both open and close structure questions.
 
Secondary Source:-
 In this secondary source, the data were collected from the website of the company, company magazines
and training materials related to Recruitment and Selection.

FINDINGS

 The study of recruitment & selection in OPTCL was found to be difficult process.
The process and policy are easy to understand but difficult for any manager who is
practicing it. Thus this can go in waist if not handled by an experienced person.
 The management is required to analyze each time as stated below through case
study before implementation if any,
 Wide publicity of recruitment process of the organization should be through various
audio visual/motivational based on advertisement through electronic media.
 The candidates should be asked to develop an interpersonal relationship with the
existing employees during training period.
 Group discussion should be introduced in the selection process.
 The qualified candidates should be informed about their selection through
IVRS(Interactive Voice Record System)
 The company should be introduced campus recruitment process to get brighter
candidates for their advertisement post within a specific time limit and in lesser cost.
