The writer aims to get the reader to engage with the text
so that they will understand how to put someone in the
recovery position and be able to use the text as guidance,
if necessary. The text begins with the instruction to “Kneel
on the floor…” This imperative verb grabs the attention of
the reader, making them feel as if they are being point
commanded and is therefore interesting to them.
