KPI – Key Performance Indicator
• Network performance can be evaluated based on Performance
Indicators (PI).
• Performance Indicators can be mapped directly to either a
measurement counter or a formula that is composed of several
counters.
• Most important Performance Indicators which provides essential
figures/data on any improvement or degradation the network
performance and vital information for switching network planning
and design are classified as Key Performance Indicators.
• KPIs are continuously monitored on a regular basis in order to
observe any improvements to the network, discover any
abnormalities in the network and proper actions taken, understand
the subscriber growth and any changes to traffic profile so that the
proper network expansion is planned accordingly.

•A KPI is normally a computational result of a number of lower level PI(s) i.e.: raw counters.
Traffic / subscriber
• Indicates the traffic profile of subscribers for planning and design
purposes. ( No. of subscriber x traffic/subs = Total Traffic )
• Derived from Circuit Group measurements.
