 Allows you to create a new document, open an


existing document, save or save as, print, send
(through email or fax), publish or close.

 Displays the name of the active document.


 At the right end of the title bar are the three familiar buttons:
minimize, restore and close buttons.

 The ribbon is the panel at the top portion of the document
 It has seven tabs: Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, Mailings, Review
and View that contains many new and existing features of word.
 Keyboard Shortcut: to minimize or restore the Ribbon, press Ctrl + F1
Quick Access Toolbar

 Quick access toolbar is a


customizable toolbar that
contains commands that you may
want to use.

 To add new item to quick access toolbar, just click on any item
then right click then choose add to quick access toolbar
Status Bar

 Reports information about the presentation and provides


shortcuts for changing the view and the zoom.

 Allow you to see the active Word window/page in different


views

Working on Multiple Documents

 Several documents can be opened simultaneously if you are typing or editing multiple
documents at once.
 The current document has a checkmark beside the file name
 All open documents will be listed in the view tab of the ribbon when you click on switch
windows.
 Select another open document to view it.
View A Document

 Print Layout: it would appear when printed, includes all tables, text, graphics and images.
 Full Screen Reading: a full view length view of a document, good for viewing two pages
at a time.
 Web Layout: it would appear in a web browser.
 Outline: is an outline form of the document in the form of bullets.
 Draft: does not display pictures and layouts, just text.
