HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Definition:
It is a process of selecting, recruiting, training and
developing employees. It also includes compensating
employees , taking care of relationships and their health and
safety concerns.
POINTS OF HRM DEFINITON
 Recruiting: Creating pool of candidate by inviting (resumes and CVs of
candidates).
 Selecting: Selecting is process of hiring right person for the right job.
 Training and Developing: Train new employees through education and
vocational training. Conducting activities for experienced employees to enhance
their skills.
 Compensating: Employees receive compensation according to their contribution
for the job. Basically three types of compensation; salary, basic compensation,
indirect benefits (medical, transportation etc).
 Taking Care of Relationship: Taking care of employees’ concerns and
communicating to top level management. For example labour union concerns etc.
 Health and Safety: Ensure health and safety environment for the employees.
Make working environment healthier. Ensure your employees’ security and make
workplace secure for job.

Managers have to identify whether their organization has right person
for right job and at right time.

(i) Human resource inventories.
(ii) Meeting future human resource needs.

 Human resource inventories

 Complete database of employees comprising experience, knowledge,


level, training and developmental opportunities. It also includes
employees’ bio data, skills, education and area of experience.

 Human resource inventories can be developed by using sophisticated


databases(using technology).

 Meeting future human resource needs:


 Mission, strategies and organizational goals dictate future HR needs.
 If a business wants to add 2 more branches. It requires human resource
for these new branches. Business will meet this requirement using
different strategies depending upon situation. In simple words business
will identify human resource either from existing human resource
(from within the organisation) or from the market.
CONCEPTS RELATING HR PLANNING

 Job analysis: Analysing and defining job related skills and


behaviour required for a specific job.
 Job specialization: Human requirement on the basis of skills to
perform that specific job. It includes cultural background, skills,
personality and knowledge level etc.
 Job description: List of duties assigned by company to perform
that particular job.
