OMM(LTE)

There are two parts of the LTE OMC network management system:
Operation and Maintenance Management System (OMM)
Element Management System (EMS)
LTE OMC Network Formation

1 The local network:

Base station of eNodeB and management system
are in the same local area network.

2 The remote network:

Base station of eNodeB and management system are not
in the same local area network.

 Installation on the same computer:
 EMS and OMM can be installed on the same server when
the the number of eNodeB is less than 1500.
Advantages
1.Maintainance and management are very convenienent.

2.The hardware resources and space are less.

Disadvanta
ges
1.The port number need to be modified manually after
the first installation or the upgrade of EMS and OMM.

2.When the server is down, all eNodeBs can’t be managed.

LTE OMC System Installation Structure
 Installation on different computers:
 EMS and OMM should be installed on different computers
when the the number of eNodeB is larger than 1500.
Advantages
1.It can manage a large amount of network element, and
its installation method is flexible.
2.It has a low requirement for a single server.
3.Other servers can work normally if one server has a
problem.

Disadvanta
ges

It requires a lot of servers, thus it’s difficult for unified

management and maintanance.

condition
1.Finish installing AIX OS.

2.Finish configuring remote graphical interface Xmanager.

3.Finish installing Oracle database.

1. Run the following command to extract OMM installation package.

2. Run the following command to check and grant execution privilege for
installation script.

interface pops up.

4. Select the language of installation process as English,<NEXT>.

5. Select “Accept”,<NEXT>.

6. Select the language after installation as “English Edition”,<NEXT> .

19. LTEOMC FTP Server IP should be filled with the CN IP, which is the IP of
NIC that communicates with eNodeB (network segment that starts with

21. Clock Server IP should be filled with the IP of OMM server (starts with

1. Use root user to login the system and open the terminal through
Xmanager.

2. Run the following command to extrace EMS installation package.

for installation script.

4. Execute the following command to run the installation script, and the
welcome interface pops up.

5. Choose the language in the installation process as English,<Next>.

6. Select: I accept the license agreement, <Next>.

7. Keep the default option,<Next>.

8. Select installation scale, and this task here uses scale 2 as an example.

9. Select All Products, and enter the installation path. This task takes
“/export/home/netnumen050Lp02/ems” as an example, <Next>.

10. If the confirmation box pops up, click <Yes>.

11. Set the database as the following explanations.

12. Click “Test Database Connection” to test the connection of database.

13. Modify the size of database according to the actual situation, and we
use default value here, <Next>.

14. Enter the address of main process service,and this task is taking
10.128. 153.117 as an example,<Next>.

15. All results should be “Pass” in the system information detection. The
free space in the example is 39499MB, which is less than the requirement
207872MB, but it won’t affect the installation, <Next>.

16. If the detection is not passed, click <Yes> to continue.

17. Confirm the installation information, and click <Install>.

18. Wait for the system to extract and copy files.

19. The file copy is completed, <Next>.

20. Keep the default option as follows, <Next>.

21. The confirmation box pops up, <Yes>.

Problem1
The test errors when connecting database with sqlplus, and
reminds “TNS:no listener”, the following example is
depending on the connection to instance “lteomm”.

Possible
Reason

1.Database listener is not configured.

2.Database listener is not started.

The test errors when connecting database with sqlplus, and
reminds “Connect failed because target host or object
does not exist”, the following example is depending on
the connection to instance “lteomm”.

Possible
Reason

“HOST” in file /oracle/app/product/10g/network/admin/

tnsnames. orais incorrectly configured, so the connection
may not find the target host.
FAQ of Common Problems

Problem3
The test errors when connecting database with sqlplus, and
reminds “TNS:listener does not currently know of service
requested in connect descriptor”. The following example is
depending on the connection to instance “lteomm”.

Possible
Reason
1.The instance “lteomm” has not been started normally
because of reasonssuch as power-down, restart or incorrectly
operation of the server.

2.“SERVICE_NAME” or “HOST”(IP address) is not

configured correctly because of error in file “tnsnames.ora”.

Problem4
When you reach to the procedure of “database connection
configuration” in the process to install EMS, and you have
configured all the parameters, then click “Test Database
Connection”, and the warning window pops up.

Possible
Reason

Didn’t create a database example whose “NetService” is

SID_IP.

EMS or OMM server fails to start up after the server is

restarted, and the message reminds us that database
can’t be connected.

Possible
Reason

The instance doesn’t start automatically after the server is

restarted, so you need to start the instance manually.
