The motivation scales of the original 6-point

Likert Scale format of Gardner's
Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB)
Language (Gardner, 1985) were adapted to a 5-point scale,
ranging from ‘Strongly Agree’ to ‘Strongly

Motivation Disagree’. The AMTB is reported to have good

reliability and validity (Gardner, 1985; 1980;
Gardner and Smythe, 1981) and the internal
consistency estimate of reliability for the
modified questionnaire was calculated, and
Cronbach's Alpha was 0.7.

The collected data will be tabulated and

analyzed using frequency and percentage
distribution, mean, standard deviation, and
skewness.

Data Analysis Best (1963) cited that the process of

descriptive research goes beyond mere
gathering and tabulation of data. It involves
an element of interpretation of the meaning
or significance of what is described, hence
this study used Pearson r as inferential
statistics.
