It is a vital camping task.

life without a shelter is very difficult

ROPES
MATERIALS:
o A long piece of heavy – duty rope
o Two tarps
o Hammer
o Four stakes or large heavy rocks

PROCEDURE:
1. Locate a nice area to build your tent.
2. Use the heavy – duty rope.
3. Check the ground where you plan to build your tent.
4. Place one large tarp on the ground.
5. Secure the tarp.

6. Construct the walls.
7. Secure the walls to the ground.
8. Build embankments to keep water out, if
necessary.
9. If your tent is on a slope.
TROUBLE SHOOTING COMMON PROBLEMS
1. Make a tent with one large tarp.
2. Carve stakes out of broken branches.
3. Look for branches that are of the best size as
possible.
4. You can make a tent with only one tree.
5. If you have another tarp you can stake it to the
ground beneath the roof tarp.

activities that you need to do in your
camping experience.
 It is vital for cooking and it can help in
keeping you warm while camping.
 You need oxygen, heat, and fuel in
making a fire.
BUILDING A SMALL – STICK FIRE
1. Collect kindling and fuel
2. Choose a fire site
3. Create a hearth by placing dead, dry sticks
4. Kneel with your back towards the prevailing wind,
knees and feet together to eliminate draughts
5. Pack a bundle of tinder inside the v – shape
6. Strike a match, shielding its flame
7. Add wood as necessary, gradually increasing the
size of your fuel as the fire is established.
