MULTI-STRAND MODEL

• Each chromatin fiber is composed of two strands.


• Each strand consist of a single double helix
structure.
• 4 chromatin fibers(each composed of two DNA
double helix)coil around each other to form quarter
chromatid.

FOLDED FIBER MODEL

• The chromosome is composed of tightly folded


fiber .
• Each chromosome fiber contains only one DNA
helix which in a coiled state.
• This DNA coil is coated with histones and non-
histone proteins.
