Rules
During the
Game
1. Out-of-
Bounds
1.1 A ball is out-of-bounds when
it touches:
1.1.1 a player or any other person who is
outside the court,
1.1.2 the floor or any object outside the
boundary line or
1.1.3 the basket supporting the backboard or
any object above and/or behind the
backboard.
1.2 a player is out-of-bounds
when any part of his or her
body is in contact with the
floor or with any object other
than a player on or outside
the boundary lines.
2. Travel
Rule
2.1 Traveling or progressing
with the ball is the movement
of one or both feet in any
direction while the player is
holding the ball.
2.2 a player who catches the
ball, while both his or her feet
are on the floor; may use either
foot as the pivot foot. The
moment one foot is lifted, the
other foot becomes the pivot
foot.
2.3 a player who catches the
ball while he/she is moving or
dribbling may stop and
establish a pivot foot. If he or
she lifts one foot, the other is
the pivot foot.

Rule
3.1 a player shall not remain
in the opponent’s restricted
area for more than three
consecutive seconds, while his
or her team is in control of the
ball and the clock is running.
4. Ten-

Rule
4.1 When a player gains
control of a live ball in his or
her back courts, his or her
team must cause the ball to
go into its front court within
ten seconds.

Substitutio
n
5.1 A substitution opportunity
begins when:
5.1.1 the ball becomes dead and the
game clock is stopped, or
5.1.2 the official has terminated his
or her communication with the
scorer’s table after a foul has been
reported.
5.1 A substitution opportunity
ends when:
5.2.1 an official with the ball enters
the circle to administer a jump ball,
5.2.2 an official enters the free-
throw lane with or without the ball
to administer a first or only free-
throw, or
5.2.3 the ball is at the disposal
of a player for a throw-in front
out-of-bounds.
6. Fouls
6.1 Personal Foul – A player shall
not charge or impede the
progress of an opponent by
extending a part of his or her
body nor bend any part of his or
her body in an abnormal
position.
A player must not engage in any
rough or violent play. If the
personal is committed during
penalty situation, two free-
throws are awarded to the
opponent.
6.2 A double foul is a situation in
which opposing players commit
contact fouls against each other
at approximately the same time.
6.3 A technical foul by a player is
a foul which does not involve
contact with an opposing player.
Two free-throws will be awarded
to the opponents as a penalty to
the offending team.
A technical foul is committed
when a player:
6.3.1 addresses an official with
disrespectful action or language.
6.3.2 uses languages or gestures
that offend or incite spectators.
6.3.3 obstructs another player’s
vision by waving one’s hands
near the other player’s eyes.
6.3.4 delays the game by
preventing the throw-in from
out-of-bounds.

F. Goal
1. When a live ball sinks in the
basket from above, a goal is
made.
2. A goal from the field counts as
two points (except when it is shot
outside the three-point line, then it
is three points); a free-throw goal
counts one point. The team with the
most number of goals after the
regulation period wins the match.
