Introduction

Almost every computer has a


tool attached to it that is
called a mouse. It is called
a mouse because the people
who designed computer
parts thought it looked like a
real mouse.

Touch Pads and Trackballs
There are some computers that don't have a
mouse, but they have other things that do
the same thing that a mouse would do.

Pointer
 The function of the mouse is to move
the pointer around the screen,
enabling you to:
 Highlight areas of the screen
 Make selections
 Execute commands more rapidly

Mouse Terminology
 Most Mouse have two buttons on them
namely:
 Primary Mouse Button: is for pointing
and selecting
 Secondary Mouse Button: is used to
display shortcut menus or getting
context sensitive help

Mouse Terminology
 When referring to mouse actions, you will hear these
terms:
Point Move the mouse so that the pointer points
to the object or item required.

Click Move the mouse pointer to the item you


want to click on then press and release a
mouse button. Make sure that the mouse
pointer is correctly positioned either on the
data to be highlighted, or on the command
to be selected.

Double- Press and release the mouse button twice
click in quick succession. If this proves difficult,
the mouse clicking speed may be changed
using the Control Panel

Drag and Move the mouse pointer to the item you
