2.9 Preparation of 7mm Seal Coat [3.15]
Checking : Compacted thickness 7mm over 25mm
compacted BC.
 [3.15.3] Aggregate Size:6.33mm down graded stone
chips & stone dust shall be mixed with natural sand of FM
2.00-2.80 .
Blotting materials : Sand of FM 0.80 to 1.00 spread over
the finished seal coat.
Bitumen: 60/70 or 80/100 Penetration grade straight run 1
liter bitumen will be mixed with 0.01m³ aggregate and
covered by 1 m² road surface area.
Bitumen temperature: 1400C to 1550C
Aggregate temperature: 1500C to 1700C
Bitumen aggregate mixture temperature: 1400C to 1600C
Laying temperature of mixture not be less than 1300C
Rolling temperature of mixture not be less than 90ºC
Rolling shall be started from edge to centre in longitudinal
direction with 8-10 ton pneumatic tyre roller.
2.10 Preparation of 12mm Seal Coat [3.17]
 Checking: Compacted thickness 12mm over Primed
WBM
 [3.17.3] Aggregate Size: 10mm down graded stone chips
& stone dust shall be mixed with natural sand of FM 2.00-
2.80 .
Blotting materials ; Sand of FM 0.80 to 1.00 spread over
the finished seal coat.
Bitumen: 60/70 or 80/100 Penetration grade straight run
I.40 liter bitumen will be mixed with 0.016m3 aggregate and
covered by 1 m2 road surface area.
Bitumen temperature: 140ºC to 155ºC
Aggregate temperature: 1500C to 1700C
Bitumen aggregate mixture temperature: 1400C to 1600C
Laying temperature of mixture not be less than 1300C
Rolling shall be started from edge to centre in longitudinal
direction with 8-10 ton pneumatic tyre roller.
3 HBB Road Pavement
 Bricks: First class bricks of equal Size & same frog mark.

 Brick on end edging: 125mm across the road.

 BFS: English bond pattern with full bricks over prepared ISG, Sand of FM not less than 0.50 might be allowed for interlocking BFS.

 Gaps: not more than 10mm.

 Sand cushioning: 25mm Sand ( minimum FM 0.50)over single layer BFS.

 HBB: Laying over 25mm thick Sand (minimum FM 0.80) cushioning in a herring Bone Bond pattern and filling the interstices tightly

with same type of sand by brush. Cut bricks to be used for filling gaps at edges.

 Tolerance: maxm 5mm per 3m length.
