PEMBAHASAN
ANALISIS KIMIA UII
Dilakukan analisis penentuan kadar Fe dalam sampel suplemen zat besi. Sampel ini diduga
mengandung kandungan Fe dapat dianalisis menggunakan metode kolorimetri. Kolorimetri
merupakan suatu metode analisa yang didasarkan pada tercapainya kesamaan warna antara
larutan sampel dengan larutan standar dengan menggunakan cahaya polikromatis dengan detector
mata.
Pada percobaan penentuan besi metode kolorimetri ini dapat diamati perubahan warna yang
terjadi pada larutan standar Fe3+. Dapat diamati warna larutan tersebut karena adanya perubahan
warna saat penambahan KMnO4 yang awalnya tidak berwarna menjadi merah muda. Ion besi (III)
Fe3+ dapat membentuk larutan berwarna merah muda dengan ion tiosianat, dimana Fe3+
bertindak sebagai ion pusat sedangkan ion tiosianat bertindak sebagai ligan. Reaksi yang terjadi
sebagai berikut :
Fe3+ + CNS- → (FeCNS)2+
Dengan membandingkan intensitas warna dari sampel dengan warna yang ditimbulkan oleh
larutan standar Fe3+ maka dapat ditentukan konsentrasi dari larutan sampel. Semakin banyak
digunakan akuades dalam suatu larutan pembanding maka semakin kecil konsentrasi larutan
pembanding. Akuades dalam reaksi ini berfungsi untuk menghidrolisis ion Fe agar CNS bisa
mengikat Fe sehingga larutan menjadi stabil.
Pembahasan
Dibutuhkan larutan standar yang digunakan saat
penentuan kadar besi metode kolorimetri. Larutan standar
dibuat dengan konsentrasi 0,4; 0,8; 1,6; 2,4; 3,2; 4; dan 4,8
ppm. Pada praktikum ini digunakan metode kolorimetri
karena memertimbangkan beberapa factor. Salah satunya
adalah penggunaan waktu dan bahan kimia yang tidak terlalu
banyak.
Berdasarkan data hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan
dalam praktikum penentuan kadar besi dengan metode
kolorimetri pada sampel sumplemen zat besi diperoleh
kesesuaian warna pada konsentrasi larutan standar 0,8
mg/L. Maka dari itu hasil konsentrasi besi dalam sampel
suplemen zat besi diperkirakan sekitar 0,8 mg/L atau bila
ditentukan dalam satuan kadar sebesar 3,18%. Massa dari
Fe dalam sampel diperoleh sebesar 4 mg.
KESIMPULAN
Prinsip pengujian besi dengan metode kolorimetri adalah membandingan warna antara larutan sampel dengan
deret larutan standar yang telah diketahui konsentrasinya untuk menentukan konsentasi dari sampel tersebut.
Pada pengujian besi dalam suplemen dengan metode kolorimetri, ditambahkan 0,1254 gram sampel yang diuji
mempunyai konsentrasi 0,8 mg/L dengan persentase kadar besi sebesar 3, 19%.
