BLEST MACHINE

THE MACHINE THAT CONVERTS PLASTIC INTO OIL

WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO

• this device uses thermochemical decomposition- a process called pyrolysis, to produce oil
from plastic waste. Seven percent of the world’s oil reserves (900 million barrels) are used to
make plastic products, which makes all the plastic waste that gets dumped into the ocean a
majorly untapped fuel source.
• This converter can produce a gallon of fuel from eight pounds of plastic waste with no toxic
air emissions because the plastics are only heated for distillation into fuels, and not
incinerated. The only resulting emissions are water vapor and carbon dioxide.
WHAT IS PYROLISYS
• Pyrolisys is a thermochemical decomposition of organic material at elevated temperatures in
the absence of oxygen
• Pyrolysis is usually the first chemical reaction that occurs in the burning of many solid
organic fuels, like wood, cloth, and paper, and also of some kinds of plastic
• Anhydrous pyrolysis can also be used to produce liquid fuel similar to diesel from plastic
waste, with a higher cetane value and lower sulphur content than traditional diesel. Using
pyrolysis to extract fuel from end-of-life plastic is a second-best option after recycling, is
environmentally preferable to landfill, and can help reduce dependency on foreign fossil
fuels and geo-extraction.
