Panels: Basic Concepts
Panel
• People specifically recruited to become members of
a panel with the understanding they will be
compensated for providing information periodically

Longitudinal Study
• A study in which the same respondents are re-
sampled over time. Often used to illustrate changes
over time pertinent to some issue, situation, mind-
set, etc.

Syndicated Research
• Data that are collected, organized by industry (or
theme / topic) and sold to various clients – often
competitive – with shared interests.
• Some organizations permit a limited number of exclusive
questions

• Implications of social media on human interaction across various age segments

2/ Research House Omnibus Services (Regular dips into the population to seek intel about topics defined by
question sponsors)
