Jaundice in Newborn
Introduction and Definition
Jaundice:-
Yellow discoloration of the skin and the mucosa due to accumulation of bilirubin
in the tissue and plasma in the neonates or newborn.
Normal level of bilirubin in newborn- 5 mg/dl
Normal level of bilirubin in adult- 1.2 mg/dl
More than 7 mg/dl
30-50 % of term newborn
