Chairman’s Message

Once again, whether you are a senior or junior player, patron,

parent or casual visitor, a very warm welcome to the 2021 cricket
season at Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club.

We are very lucky to have one of the most beautiful cricket grounds
in the area; and, thanks to the tireless work of our groundsman,
Andy Pickles, we play on what is widely regarded as one of the best
playing surfaces in the league.

Last season was a difficult time for all, with only half a season being
played, and a reduced junior season. The pandemic caused us all to
play under severe government restrictions, but we did so, and
enjoyed the season as best we could.

The 2021 season will hopefully start on time for both the seniors
and juniors, with the first senior games on Saturday 17th April.
The 1st XI will once again have the services of Nauman Akram, from
Lahore, as our overseas player, for a 3rd season. He continued to
both take wickets and score runs in 2020, and we are hoping for
more of the same this season.

Nauman would like to let it be known, that he is happy to assist any

juniors with extra coaching at the club.

Thanks also to our 1st XI scorer, Molly Ferguson, who has done a
great job over the last two seasons.

Our Key Aims at CHCC are:

1. To be a serious contender for promotion back to the

Cheshire County League
2. To maintain three senior Saturday teams , with one or
two Sunday teams and an Over 40’s team.
3. To have a thriving junior section, where we introduce
boys and girls to the joys of playing cricket and hopefully
to instil a life-long love of the game.
4. To be known as a club that is friendly and welcoming to
all, that genuinely contributes to the social well being of
the local area.
Chairman’s Message

The club’s success is based on the incredible hard work of a fairly

small number of volunteers, who give up an enormous amount of
their time. The more people that can be in this group, the better the
health of the club.

If you would like to help /join in by taking on a role, whether that be

umpiring, scoring, coaching, please do get in touch with myself, or
another member of the committee.

Finally, I wish you all a great season of either watching or playing

competitive and enjoyable cricket.

Regards

Roy Whalley
CHCC Chairman
Treasurer’s Message

We are still working hard behind the scenes on trying to raise funds
for our new training facility. A big thank you to everyone who
contributed to the Crowdfunding campaign as it got us 20% closer
to our target.

The next stage has been identifying further grants that we can apply
for to get us even closer to the target.

We are currently in the process of applying for planning permission

which we will need to take the project on further and is specifically
required for one of the grant applications.

As you can see from the picture above, the nets will be fully
enclosed which will ensure both safety and security and the plan
view below shows the design of the floor covering. This is designed
to assist cricketers using the nets to see the ball better.
Treasurer’s Message

Elsewhere in the handbook, dates for a number of fundraising

events are listed. Please try and support these events when they
happen as these will help to pay for the maintenance of the facility
going forward.

Following last seasons successful trial with moving the collection of

match fees online, the whole membership process is being done in
a similar way this season as has been outlined in the Cheadle Hulme
CC social media posts.

https://cheadlehulmecc.co.uk/membership-forms

The link above will take you to our membership forms on the
website, please complete the applicable form and choose your
preferred method of payment.

If you know of any businesses who would be interested in

supporting the club, please forward the details to either Ed Lindsey
or myself.

Message from Humayun Khalid - 1st XI Captain

I am once again excited and honoured to lead the Cheadle Hulme

Cricket Club 1st XI for the forthcoming season. It is a fantastic
opportunity, and a privilege to lead such a talented and ambitious
group of players, and to play our cricket at the best ground, and in
the best surroundings.

I am proud to be part of CHCC. Having been with the club for three
years, I can tell you without doubt, this is the best club in the
Cheshire Cricket League.

I would like to thank Nauman Akram for being our overseas player
once again this season. He was deservedly awarded the ‘Best All-
Rounder” trophy by the league last season.

The duo of Nauman and Scott Howarth will be threatening to rock

the top order of any opposition again this year, as they have done
for the last two, and are regarded as the best bowling pair in the
league.

Also, the team and I will benefit from the extensive skill and
knowledge of Adam Wilde as vice captain, who had a successful
year last season, having returned to the club.

The team is further strengthened by Chris Taylor, who is available for

the whole season. His experience as a level 3 qualified coach, will
help the whole squad, on and off the field.

I would like to thank the entire ground staff, who have worked their
heart out, even in these difficult times of the pandemic, and
providing us with the best outfield in the league.

With an ever growing group of talented, hard working and

committed local cricketers, as well as a good balance of youth and
experience in the squad, I am confident we can put in strong
performances against any team in the league this season.

I look forward to seeing you all at some point throughout the

season (with social distancing naturally in place) and your support
will be greatly appreciated by the team and club.

Thanks

Humi

Message from Stuart Small – Junior Chairman

Welcome back to hopefully another great season!

Well, what a 12 months we have had!

It would be easy to focus on the negatives of last

season; but, cricket wise, as a junior section, last
year turned into a fantastic positive.

We played numerous games. We lost some, won

some, but hopefully the kids enjoyed them all.

Our drive to develop the juniors, saw yet again an

increase in players across every age group.

A huge positive for me was the junior players

progression into senior cricket, and the increased
number of girls taking the game up.

One weekend saw virtually every eligible under 15

player turning out on a Saturday afternoon for
either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd XI.

This will be my 5th year as Junior Organiser and I

am looking forward to seeing everyone playing,
practicing and loving cricket more than ever.

Here’s to a fantastic season ahead and more

normality.

We will again be running All Stars Cricket at Grove Park starting on

7th May.

It is an 8 week course which provides a fantastic first experience for

all children aged 5-8 years old. They’re guaranteed 8 weeks of jam-
packed fun, activity and skills development.

The programme is designed to introduce children to cricket,

teaching them new skills, helping them make new friends and have
a great time doing so.

Every child that registers will receive a backpack full of goodies.
