Background of the
Study:
 The study is the result of the CoViD19 pandemic that started last
year and it focuses more on CoViD19 positive individual
experiences during double lockdown and how it affects their
psychological well-being while in isolation.

 This study uses Qualitative Research in a form of a

phenomenological approach method that will answer the
knowledge gap of this research.

3
 Matua and Van Der Wal (2015) approach in this study
defines the discipline that investigates people’s experiences
to reveal their hidden thoughts.

 Van Manen (1990) approaches considers phenomenology as

an appropriate method to explore the phenomena significant
in the field of educational research, elaborating
phenomenology as a response to how one orients to the
lived experience and questions the way one experiences the
world.
 The location of this research study is through a convenient and
accessible to both the researchers and participants that should
be considered before conducting face-to-face interviews in
qualitative researches.

 In this research study, the researcher will conduct the

interview through a virtual session using Zoom, Google Meet,
or Facebook Messenger applications.

5
Nature of Study:
 The nature of this research study will focus more on the double
lockdown experiences of CoVid-19 positive individual and its
effect to the psychological well-being while in isolation.

 Neuman Systems Model, which views a practical guidelines

used by caregiving and administrative staff members to produce
positive client outcomes, this was developed by Dr. Betty
Neuman where the theory is based on her education and
professional experiences and the model outlines a dynamic
script deployed by practitioners around the world, and the
framework emphasizes client individuality by considering
6 clients’ unique circumstances and background.
 The primary inclusion criterion requires the participants of
the study to be COVID-19 positive individuals who
underwent strict isolation in a quarantine facility for 14
days.
 Other inclusion criteria are:
 1. A Filipino citizen who is willing to participate in the
study;
 2. An individual who tests positive for COVID-19 using RT-
PCR testing; and,
 3. Can communicate and express experiences freely using
7
the language he/she is most comfortable at.
Research Questionnaire or Tools:
 The researchers will utilize guide questions to reach the study objective and
the main issue for this study is to understand the participant during their
double lockdown experiences and how did it affects psychological well-being
while experiencing an isolation. Thus, 5 questions will apply:

1. What is your double lockdown experiences and how did it affect your
psychological well-being while you are in isolation?
2. What were the medications and treatments that helped you the most?
3. What do you think will be the hardest thing about isolation? How will you
deal with that?
4. What concerns do you have about how isolation will affect your health and
well-being?
5. What do you think you can do or what support do you need to make a positive
impact on your health and well-being?8
Purpose of Study:
 The purpose of this study is to understand the double
lockdown experiences of COVID-19 positive
individuals and explore how it affects their
psychological well-being during isolation and it
creates an awareness on their mental health aspects
on how to overcome and deal the impacts during
their isolation and somehow manage the effects in the
future.

9
Theoretical Framework:
 Betty Neuman’s System’s Model
-describes the Neuman Systems Model as “a unique, open-system-based
perspective that provides a unifying focus for approaching a wide range of
concerns. A system acts as a boundary for a single client, a group, or even
several groups; it can also be defined as a social issue. A client system in
interaction with the environment delineates the domain of nursing concerns.”
 Adaptation Model of Nursing, a prominent nursing theory of Callista
Roy.
-According to Roy and Andrews (1999), adaptation refers to “the process
and outcome whereby thinking and feeling persons as individuals or in groups,
use conscious awareness and choice to create human and environmental
integration”. Adaptation leads to optimal health and well-being, to quality of
life and to death with dignity (Andrews & Roy, 1991). The adaptation level
represents the condition of the life processes, which attempts to reestablish
adaptation. If the compensatory processes are not adequate, compromised
10
processes result (Roy, 2009).
Research
 The research design performs Design:
a data collection, data processing and data
analysis in order to form a conceptual study occurs in real-world contexts
and in naturalistic ways which helps the CoVid19 positive individual
understand the situation that their going through throughout this
pandemic.

 This research follows Theoretical or Conceptual Framework to support

this research with regards the double lockdown experiences of CoVid-19
positive individual and its effects to the psychological well-being while in
isolation.

 The research design will works through qualitative research using

descriptive phenomenological approach of study that will be used from
the subject.

 The research design follows Edmund Husserl phenomenology.

11
Instrumentation:
 The researchers will utilize guide questions to reach the study
objective. The main question for this study is “What is your double
lockdown experiences and how did it affect your psychological well-
being while you are in isolation?”.
 After the interview conducted, data collection, data processing and
data analysis will be performed in order to come up with a
conclusion.

 The functions and usage of this instrument is to know and understand

the double lockdown experiences particularly the psychological well-
being and effects of the positive individual during CoViD19 isolation.

12
Data Collection & Analysis:
 Virtual face-to-face interview will be the primary method of data
collection. The potential participant and the researchers will agree
on a specific schedule for the interview. However, the participant’s
preference will be given utmost consideration.
 Before the start of the interview, informed consent will be provided
through email correspondence or channeled through Facebook
Messenger.
 Explanation will be given regarding the nature of the study.
 The interview will probably take thirty to sixty minutes. After the
interview, participants will be told that a second contact will follow
for verification and validation of the crafted themes.

13
 In data gathering, personal views, beliefs, and background
knowledge on lockdown experiences will be documented in a
journal.
 In the actual virtual face-to-face interview, background
information of the participant will be sought as a way of
providing context to the story.
 Information that will be collected includes the age, gender,
marital status, occupation, level of education, religion,
concurrent illness (if there is), and family income.

14
 Transcription will be done within 24-48
hours after the interview to allow clear
recollection of the information and its
context.

 The transcribed data will be manually

analyzed using Colaizzi’s method of data
interpretation.

15
Subject Study:
 The subject of this study focus more on the experiences of
CoViD19 positive individuals and its effect to the psychological
well-being while in isolation.

 The subject will be undergone interview procedures answering

sets of questions that will be used as data gathering.

 This research is needed for the subject to understand their

psychological well-being and formulate hypotheses thereafter.
