ABSTRACT

Chemotherapy has negative consequences on the patient's physical, emotional, and mental health,
which can lead to depression and degrade the patient's quality of life. As a result, the study's goal was to
determine the level of depression among Filipino chemotherapy patients as well as the quality of their lives.
A total of 102 patients took part in the research specifically those who undergone chemotherapy from
December 2020- February 2020 at OSPA- Farmer’s Hospital. Two research tools were used in the study
the Beck’s Depression Scale and the Quality of life treated with Anti- Cancer Drugs tool. According to the
findings, the majority of the (52.38%) experienced mild depression and that their quality of life is good
(97.05%). On the other hand, 4 participants said they were depressed to a considerable degree.
Furthermore, the results suggest that the two variables have a substantial association (R=-0.053; P-
value=0.000) such as the socio-demographic profile (age) and the level of depression and the level of
depression and quality of life. The findings of the study highlight the need to craft for a home-based care
plan to assist chemotherapy patients and their families in avoiding depression. In the same way, it aims to
improve the quality of life of chemotherapy patients.
