From Psalm 23,
how do you see the
phrase “Valley of
the shadow of
death”?
As a student who has gained
confidence in self and the
“ Lord, and is ready to respond
to issues and concerns, you
must step into the light. Steps
a leader must tread so that
others may also see the path
into the light.

Try to take a deeper look at this

Men are physically
stronger than women,
who have denser,
stronger bones, tendons,
and ligaments

7
We are stronger!

That is why women are protected with laws such as

the Republic Act 9262 The Anti-Violence Against
Women and their Children Act of 2004. Recognizing
the need to protect the family and its members
particularly women and children from violence and
threats to their personal safety and security. This
was signed by former President Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo on March 2, 2004.

8
We are resistant!

But, women are not that weak either,

women produce more antibodies and
at a quicker rate than men. For these
reason women develop fewer
infectious diseases and when they do,
they succumb for shorter periods.
9
How about this?

What is VUCA?
Leadership is the main aspect
described for the VUCA theory. But of
course we cannot set aside other
aspects of life like education,
agriculture, health family, religion and
a lot more. 19
VUCA is an acronym (artificial word),
first used in 1987 and is based on the
leadership theories of Warren Bennis
and Burt Nanus. It stands for
Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity
and Ambiguity.
20
VUCA shows the unpredictable nature
of the world.

Let us try to focus

on the coronavirus
in the Philippine
context.
21
How are going to survive in a VUCA
world?
Adaptation is the real challenge when
we talk about VUCA situation in the real
world.

In literature these concepts is

expressed in conflicts and countered
among characters. This can be social
discrimination, religious conflict, love
conflicts and even personal challenges.
23
The importance of conflict is to create
tension in the story making readers more
interested by leaving them uncertain which
of the characters or forces will prevail and
survive.

These conflicts are the central point of the

story where the character/s needs to
overcome. In effect, we, readers can greatly
connect it in our present situations.

Read/Sing the lyrics of the first two stanzas and chorus of the
ballad “Wind of Change” by the West German rock band
Scorpions.

This song was recorded in 1990 by the

band Scorpions. Although the song is in
English, the band is from Germany.

What have you known about German

history during the late 1980’s? 26
In 1989, the Berlin Wall was demolished.
The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 and
divided East Berlin from West Berlin.
These two territories were important in
the cold war, a power struggle between
the Soviet Union and Western powers like
the United States and Great Britain. The
wall presented a physical barrier
constructed for political reasons. Many
people could not see their family
members or move freely just because
they lived on one side of the wall. 27
Song Analysis: analyse the song by answering the following
questions:
• What is the song all about?
• What could be the dream of the speaker?
• If you were to follow the wind of change,
where would it possibly bring you in the
future considering the volatile, uncertain,
complex and ambiguous world?
