• 1925 – ITC’s Packaging & Printing Business Division was set up as a strategic backward
integration for ITC’s Cigarettes business.
• 1974 – The Company’s ownership progressively Indianised, and the name of the Company
was changed to ITC limited (Indian tobacco company).
• 1975 – The Company launched its HOTEL BUSINESS which was named “ITC- Welcome
group Hotel Chola”.
Objectives
• Ensure that material received, and related information make
available for all department.
• Accept the material which is ordered and meet the specification
of requirement otherwise return it and make proper records.
Factors
• Farmer provide the raw material need for the manufacturing process
of items like tobacco for cigarettes.
• Some materials are directly imported from warehouses like the paper
needed for wrapping of cigarettes.
OUTBOUND LOGISTICS
• An Outbound logistics is the process which include storage, picking,
packing and delivering finished products to customers from a warehouse or
distribution center. It plays an important role in the success of the
company.
Objectives
• Minimize the total cost.
• Maximize the unit fill rates.
• Maximize the resource utilization of the facilities in the network.
Factors
• Warehouse to keep the finished product safe and accessible. Currently ITC
has 62 warehouses.
• ITC has a good transportation network which deliver the goods on time
in minimum transportation cost.
• ITC maintain good relationship with wholesalers, distributers and

• Distribution is one of the most vital part of Supply
Chain Management. Distribution is the process
through which a company delivers its products to
the ultimate consumer. ITC has a diversified
presence in hotels, packaging, agri-business,
cigarettes, personal care and other various type of
FMCG goods. ITC mainly uses distribution
channel for its FMCG goods.
