ARNIS
Arnis
Also known as “Eskrima and Kali” is the
national sport and martial arts of the
Philippines. It is the martial art that
emphasizes weapon-based fighting using
sticks, blades and other improvised
weapons. Hand to hand combat
techniques, limb locks, and grappling are
core skills associated with the arnis as
well.
This martial art can be traced back to the native
fighting techniques of pre-hispanic Filipino
tribes. There are no known written
documentation of the martial arts although
traditional practitioner have passed their skills to
their proteges through training and oral tradition.
Scoring
Scoring shall be the “5- point must” system.
A. even round 5-5 c. Wide edge 5-3

Basic Skills
Grip
Hold the sticks with your finger about three inches from the end.
Press the thumb over the forefinger. The wrist must be flexible.
Bow/ Courtesy
1. Stand straight, feet at 45 degree
2. Hold the stick with both hands.
3. Bow the head forward from the neck.
4. Simultaneously extend the right arm sideward with the stick
pointing upward.
5. Place the left hand. Open palm and fingers extended on
the right breast.
6. Return to starting position.

this sport. Respect yourself and other people.

You should give your full time in training to learn
this sports. Constant practice is needed.

You should have self control. Do away with vices
that could affect your health, environment and
social life.
4. Good Manners
You have to follow the rules of good manner.
You have to respect the right of others.
5. Loyalty to the Trainor
You can improve your skills. You can gain more if
you show loyalty and respect to your trainor.
