BUNAKEN MARINE PARK, INDONESIA
Bunaken National Park is a marine park in the north of Sulawesi island, Indonesia. The park is
located near the centre of the Coral Triangle, providing habitat to 390 species of coral as well as
many fish, mollusc, reptile and marine mammal species. The Park is representative of Indonesian
tropical water ecosystems, consisting of seagrass plain, coral reef, and coastal ecosystems

• Borobudur, or Barabudur is a 9th century Mahayana

RAJA AMPAT ISLANDS, INDONESIA

The Raja Ampat Islands are an Indonesian archipelago off the northwest tip of Bird’s
Head Peninsula in West Papua. Comprising hundreds of jungle-covered islands, Raja
Ampat is known for its beaches and coral reefs rich with marine life. Ancient rock
paintings and caves are on Misool Island, while the crimson bird of paradise lives on
Waigeo Island. Batanta and Salawati are the archipelago’s other main islands.

• Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of
Bali. It is home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura
Tanah Lot, a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography.
JAIPUR, INDIA

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once
ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink
City” for its trademark building color. At the center of its stately street grid (notable in
India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards
and museums, part of it is still a royal residence.
WHEN TO VISIT AND HOW MUCH

• Apr–May, Oct and Dec–Feb are popular travel months. Jaipur


has a semi-arid climate. Apr–Jun is very hot, before the peak
monsoon rains of Jul–Aug. The winter (Dec–Feb) has warm
sunny days and cool evenings. The Jaipur Literature Festival
(Jan) is a huge event also offering traditional music and
dancing. Holi (Mar) is the spring festival of colors, when street
revelers get covered in bright powder. The day after, Gangaur
(Mar), held in honor of the Hindu goddess of fertility, features
colorful street parades and dancing.

AJANTA CAVES, INDIA

The Ajanta Caves are 30 (approximately) rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments which


date from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE in Aurangabad district of 
Maharashtra state of India. The caves include paintings and rock-cut sculptures
described as among the finest surviving examples of ancient Indian art, particularly
expressive paintings that present emotion through gesture, pose and form.

TAJ MAHAL, INDIA

• The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the 


Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the 
Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (reigned from 1628 to 1658) to house the tomb of his
favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.
MASADA, ISRAEL

Masada is an ancient fortress in southern Israel’s Judean Desert. It's on a


massive plateau overlooking the Dead Sea. A cable car and a long, winding
path climb up to the fortifications, built around 30 B.C. Among the ruins are
King Herod's Palace, which sprawls over 3 rock terraces, and a Roman-style
bathhouse with mosaic floors.
TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM

• The Temple in Jerusalem was any of a series of structures which were located on


the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem, the current site of the 
Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque. These successive temples stood at this
location and functioned as a site of ancient Israelite and later Jewish worship. It is
also called the Holy Temple
ISFAHAN, IRAN

Isfahan is a city in central Iran, known for its Persian architecture. In the huge Naqsh-
e Jahan Square is the 17th-century Imam (Shah) Mosque, whose dome and minarets
are covered with mosaic tiles and calligraphy. Ali Qapu Palace, built for Shah Abbas
and completed in the late 16th century, has a music room and a verandah overlooking
the square’s fountains. Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is known for its intricate tiling.
NARA PARK, JAPAN

• Nara Park is a public park located in the city of Nara, Japan, at


the foot of Mount Wakakusa. Established in 1880 it is one of
the oldest parks in Japan. Administratively, the park is under
the control of Nara Prefecture.

Ratchaburi Province, about 100 km southwest of Bangkok.

Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, formerly known as Anapji, is


an artificial pond in Gyeongju National Park, South Korea. It
was part of the palace complex of ancient Silla. It was
constructed by order of King Munmu in 674 CE.

Jeju Loveland is an outdoor sculpture park which opened in 2004 on Jeju


Island in South Korea. The park is focused on a theme of sex, running sex
education films, and featuring 140 sculptures representing humans in various
sexual positions.
