Read, Pair, Share

What is Read, Pair, Share?

● An adaption of a partner activity called ‘Think, Pair, Share.’


● In the activity, partners read together, stopping after each paragraph or
appropriate section of text, to answer the traditional “who, what, when, where,
and how” questions related to the text they just read.
● Whenever the partners cannot answer a question, they work together to solve
the question.
● Activity allows students to read and reread text with the support of a partner.

Activity Directions

1. Students will be separated into pairs. Each pair will read the story with their
partner.
2. After every paragraph students must stop and discuss what they have read.
3. Students should focus on Who, What, Where, When, and How regarding each
paragraph.
4. In pairs, students should fill out the 4 W’s and a How worksheet as they
discuss the book. (For this class it is okay to use a word document containing
the Who, What, Where, When, and How.)
