1. Listen to the recording and answer:

What kind of company is it?

A translation company.

How long has the owner had it?

Almost 15 years working on his own, and set up the company 3
years ago.

How is it doing at the moment?

It’s doing ok.

What are the owners plans for the future?

Planning to expand and include Spanish.
3. Listen to the recording and fill in the gaps.

- So, what do you do, Oleg?

- Well, I run my own translation company. Mostly we translate some famous books from Russian to English and English to
Russian, but we also translate some newspaper articles as well.
- Ok! Interesting. And how long have you been doing that?
- Well, I started doing it on my own almost 15 years ago. But I only set up the company 3 years ago. So we are actually quite new.
- How is the company doing at the moment?
- That’s a good question. I’ll need to think about that. I guess we are doing ok. I employ 12 people full-time and 6 more part-time,
but to be honest, I’m a bit worried about things.
- Why is that?
- Well, technology makes our life harder. Lots of people just use online translation sites even though we offer much better
service. People don’t pay as much as they did in the past because they know they can get things for free on the internet.
- That must make life hard.
- It does. But it also means we just have to try even harder.
- So, what are your plans for the future?
- I’m glad you asked me that. We are actually planning to expand. We are going to start working with Spanish as well. It’s such a
popular language right now. We’ll be offering three languages. All at our usual high level.
- That sounds great. Good luck with it.
