3 . Add videos on the storyboard

– This step should be correctly perform during the testing since in using computer “click and drag” is commonly used
in computer operation.

4. Open an audio
- Half of the test subjects effectively follow instructions thus do have the ideal time performing this task.
- This should be an easy task since the task is illustrated in the data collection instrument.

- Locating the test audio can use up the designated accomplish time

– The mute button in this software is small, thus making the test subject lazy in finding this

7. Trim the 1st video

– Locating the said time should be easy. The test subjects tend to view the video before

– Some of the test subjects uses other way (file  save as) in saving documents rather that using ctrl+s.
– Locating the folder to which the file is to be saved is a tricky one. One must know how to navigate each page.

II. Test Execution Analysis

• Generally, task 5 to 11 is tricky. Most confusing occurs at the task 7, 10 and 11. This
step includes trimming the video clip and creating animated text. Most of the test
subjects asked after 1 to 2 minutes when the instructions are confusing them thus
lengthen the accomplishment time.

• In task 6, two (2) test subjects missed to perform the task. The reason would possibly
be the size of the mute icon.

• Task 7 takes knowledge on the basics functions in Ulead and familiarity in some icons
in just a short period of time. In the given orientation before the testing start, the test
subjects might get the desired task time when they have listened carefully on the User
Interface of the Ulead Video Studio.

• A novice user with computer literacy would, in actual fact, had a hard time familiarizing
the user interface of the video studio in a short time. In a certain time, the novice users
will adopt the said software.
III. General Output and Conclusion

The ideal output for this usability testing in Ulead Video Studio is for the
test subjects finished in the most favourable time. Results show that each
task was executed properly. But not finished on the desired favourable
time. Task 6 was missed to be performed by two (2) test subjects and
didn’t notice it.

Out of 10 test subjects
• Four (4) – executed 4 task in a favourable time limit
• Two (2) – executed 9 task in a favourable time limit
• One (1) – executed 10 task in a favourable time limit
• One (1) – executed 8 task in a favourable time limit
• One (1) – executed 6 task in a favourable time limit
• One (1) – executed 5 task in a favourable time limit

With these results, we conclude that Ulead Video Studio in general is easy
to use yet familiarizing the interface takes time for novice computer
users.
Recommendations:

Generally, the data showed positive report for
most of the task given. This implies that the
software usability is good but only to the novice
users. The group recommend that this test must
be conducted to different levels of computer
literate. Aside from that, it is good to test the
simultaneously. The group also suggest trying to
conduct a test on Ulead without using the mouse.
