painting, a photograph, a poem or a novel, if you created it, you own it and it’s the copyright law itself that assures that ownership.

person uses the work of another
person without adequately citing
the source. Although the most common example is someone directly copying
sentences or paragraphs from an article or literary works.

created by a person's mind that is
protected by law from being used
without permission. Some examples of intellectual property
include paintings, written works of fiction, etc.
