The Harmful Effects of Climate Change
on the Humanity and the Environment
It is common knowledge that Climate Change which
proceeds from Global Warming, has wreaked havoc on our
environment. It has also resulted to loss of lives and habitats.
Greenhouse gases, released from coal plants, vehicles,
agricultural and mining activities, increase the concentration of
carbon dioxide. It is the active ingredient that heats up the
atmosphere. The hot and dry conditions then cause wildfire and
make it a perfect recipe for disaster. Climate change also
causes glaciers to melt, which could make the sea level rise
and wipe out coastal areas. These phenomena send us a clear
message that climate change is a wake-up call to all of us. We
must make a big decision to change our old ways like burning
waste or using plastic for a one-time use. We should plant or
grow trees. If we all do these, we will mitigate the negative
impact of climate change.
What is collocation?
Collocation is the way in which particular words
tend to occur or belong together.

For example, ‘Meals will be served outside on the

terrace if weather permits.’
But not, ‘Meals will be served outside on the terrace
if weather allows.’

Both permit and allow have very similar meaning,

but in this combination only permits is correct. It
collocates with weather, but allows does not.
