TYRE SEGMENT SURVEY REPORT

INTRODUCTION

 Sample survey carried as a part of captive research was


implemented in pune city focusing on various tyre
distributors/dealers.
 The sample survey was carried out in order to understand
the transportation mode exercised in market and also to
understand the distribution model as well as to measure
the cost benefit analysis.
 Primary as well as secondary research process were
implied for the same.
 Questionnaire model was prepared and was tested over
the sample

UNDERSTANDING SUPPLY CHAIN
Tyres after manufactured are stored in the warehouse owned by the
company.
Hence dispatched to various regional ware house and C&F agents
The mode of transportation adopted at this stage is through
HTV
From the ware house use of htv is processed in order to supply to local
godowns and distributors.
Approach towards dealers and distributors are built using ltv
Direct supply from local godowns for retail business is also witnessed
,medium being ltv
Direct purchase by the end customer ,use of ltv are very less at this
stage.

Stacking pattern
 Since the orders vary the supply had to be in random order the
vehicles have to carry tyres of different pattern all together.
 Tyres are placed vertically as well as horizontally to occupy
minimum space.
 Depending upon the area and order vehicles are used. For small
orders three wheelers are used.

NOTE:

 Operating cost has been calculated through summing up


total fixed cost and variable cost.
 Operating cost per km has been obtained by calculating
the total operating cost and working days in month and
number of kms run per day.
 Toatal number of working days has been taken as 26 in a
month.
OBSERVATIONS
 It was observed that the mode of transportation by ltv was mostly
practiced in secondary stage.
 Among three wheelers ape3wheeler had large share compare d to
other three wheeler s like Bajaj ,Mahindra ,Atul shakti
 Use of HTV &TATA 407,709 was more compared to other vehicles as
orders used to be in bulk and in order to meet the need of dealers
/distributors.

CONCLUSION
 Through the sample survey it was observed that the ape 3w was
leading among three wheelers in providing service for supply of
tyre .
 Among 4wheelers Tata ace was the preferred one
 Minidor and407 as well as 709 were also used very often and
providing a good competition to ape and Tata.
 In case of 407 the vehicle was not being fully utilized as the trucks
where not fully loaded, they were carrying the load same as of Tata
ace .
 Hence was observed that the operating cost per km of ape 3 wheeler
and ape truk was lesser than the Tata ace
