“What if” analysis

 This is what happens to the output (goal)

when an input variable changes.
 It gives us the immediate effect of changing
one of the variables.
 E.g. Total cost of a building when price per
bricks changes

Sensitivity Analysis

 This makes more changes to values of input

variables and sees how sensitive the values
of output variables are to these changes.
 E.g. A small change in the input variable
cause large or small change in output
variable

Goal seeking

 Here, we set a desire result and ask what

input value would be needed.
 So this is the reverse of the “what if analysis”.
 Similar to the function of a “solver” but solver
also finds minimum and maximum values
